Friends, Food, and Wine: Hosting a Wine Tasting Party

Posted in ,

Do you and your friends love wine? Hosting a wine tasting party is a great way to experiment with new and unusual wines, and share the experience with your friends.

One fun wine tasting theme is “Price vs. Taste”. Test your palate by purchasing wine at different price points, and see if you and your friends can determine which are the less expensive and which are the high-end wines. You’ll be surprised by what you’ll discover.

With any wine tasting, you will want to serve foods that compliment your wine selections. Cheese is an obvious choice, but what kinds should you choose? You might want to pair a Cabernet Sauvignon with Cheddar, Gouda, Blue Cheese or Gorgonzola.  Rieslings go well with Brie or Monterey Jack.  If you are serving Zinfandel or Sauvignon Blanc, they both pair well with Asiago, Feta and Goat Cheese.

Dark chocolate will enhance the flavor of full-bodied reds. Fresh fruit such as apples, nectarines and kiwi serve well with crisp new world whites.
